Spodumene is a Lithium mineral with powerful fluxing properties and is an important raw material for glass, ceramics, refractories, cement, metallurgy, casting and foundry moulds .
Typically, Spodumene is used to partially replace one or more of the fluxes commonly used in glass and ceramics [e.g. feldspar, nephelene syenite etc]. This forms a eutectic and helps reduce the melting point and kiln temperatures.
